Welsh rock icon Bonnie Tyler, best known for “Total Eclipse of the Heart” and “Holding Out for a Hero,” has officially woken from a medically induced coma after undergoing emergency intestinal surgery in Portugal. However, her team confirms she remains “very unwell” and is still in intensive care as doctors monitor her slow recovery.
Tyler, 75, was rushed to a hospital in Faro in early May after suffering a severe intestinal tear that required immediate surgery. Complications during recovery led doctors to place her into a coma to stabilize her condition.
❤️ Condition Improving, but Recovery Will Be Long
According to an official statement from her family and management, Tyler is conscious but still in a fragile state. Doctors remain optimistic she will make a full recovery, but warn that the process will take significant time.
Her team has canceled or postponed all summer tour dates through August, with hopes that autumn shows may still proceed depending on her health. Fans worldwide have flooded her website and social media with messages of support — messages her team says she is aware of and “very grateful” for.
